The Naturopathic Approach
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system that blends scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The philosophy of naturopathic medicine is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. We understand symptoms of disease as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, a way for our bodies to give us warning that things need to change.
Naturopathic medicine treats all forms of health concerns, in all types of people who suffer from all form of illness. The depth and questioning during an initial intake can seem daunting at first but this information gleans a snapshot into a persons overall health and allows naturopathic doctors to see how disease effects an entire person. For many patients, this difference in approach to health provides them with a new perspective and awareness.

“Naturopathic doctors emphasize healthy daily habits, they assess risk factors and hereditary susceptibility to disease and make appropriate interventions to prevent illness. Health is more than just the absence of disease. Health entails daily functioning on the highest possible levels, and is obtained by proper nutrition, exercise, a balanced lifestyle, positive emotions, thoughts and actions. The capacity for optimal wellness or an improved quality of life is inherent in every body.”
